What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, is a chemical compound from the hemp plant. It is one of many cannabinoids uniquely produced by the cannabis family.
Every variety of the cannabis family produces cannabinoids. Although CBD and THC are the most popularly known cannabinoids, there are many different types.
How does CBD work?
Our brains have specific receptors known as CB1 and CB2 that interact with cannabinoids. These receptors are responsible for the assimilation of cannabinoid compounds like CBD and THC into the system, resulting in the psychoactive and immune responses correlated with cannabis consumption.
CBD and THC work by interacting with our body’s endocannabinoid system, which is a regulatory system made up of naturally occurring cannabis-like molecules. These endocannabinoids, as they’re called, work like neurotransmitters, transmitting messages through the body to help maintain homeostasis levels.
CBD and THC what’s the difference?
The most obvious difference between these two cannabinoids is their psychoactive effects and the level of occurrence in the Cannabis plant varieties.
In other words, compared to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, the primary psychoactive element in marijuana), CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t have a strong effect on cognitive brain activity and doesn’t cause the usual “high” or state of euphoria often associated with consuming marijuana. CBD is a cannabidiol that works by attaching to CB1 receptors in the brain and it is different from THC in that it doesn’t have the psychoactive effects
Why should I use CBD?
For the most part, many people integrate CBD into their health routine to support their cellular and molecular health. CBD products are also quite useful in treating body pains.
Many people vape CBD mainly for recreational purposes and claim it makes them feel calm and relaxed. CBD edibles like gummy bears and chocolate are also great.
However, there is a common misconception that CBD is “the medical cannabinoid” and THC is “the recreational cannabinoid”.
Is it safe to take CBD?
According to a report in 2017 by the World Health Organization, CBD in its pure state is safe. Humans and animals can consume CBD without physical dependence or abuse. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), CBD doses of up to 300 mg daily have safely been taken by orally for up to 6 months, and doses of 1200 mg – 1,500 mg of CBD have also been taken orally for up to four weeks.

What is the legality of CBD?
Is CBD legal?
There is much confusion about the legality of CBD. The most logical answer to this question is – technically YES. However, just like many other aspects of the law, this isn’t so clear cut.
The cannabis plant comes in many different varieties. The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) treated them all the same as a Schedule I substance.
However, the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (aka the Farm Bill) changed all that.
The “2018 Farm Bill” legalized hemp and hemp-derived products, including hemp-derived CBD.
The legislation basically states, cannabis that contains no more than 0.3% of THC is considered to be legal at the federal level.
Hempeli CBD products have no THC – it’s within the legal limits.
Cannabis that contains higher levels of THC (> 0.3%) is still listed as “marijuana” and remains a Schedule I drug.
